Calling All Pickle Lovers! Here Are Calgary’s Top Pickle Pizzas

Are pickles the new pineapples? Whether you love this combo or think it’s way too controversial to try out, places all around Canada have hopped on the trend of adding this salty, dill-y, vinegary gherkin to their cheesy pizza slices.

It’s cheesy, tangy and just weird enough to make it delicious and addictive, drawing a huge fan base!

Let the pickle and pizza fans unite with this food trend and check out these spots in and around Calgary (known for their borderline ridiculous Stampede foods to begin with) serving up pickle pizzas.

Pizzaface

Mike’s Pickle Pizza is probably the most well known and popular pickle pizza in Calgary, and for a good reason. Made with garlic cream, mozzarella, and crunchy pickles, then finished with fresh dill and black pepper.

Their Burger Pizza also dons the delicious topping with garlic cream, mozzarella and cheddar, ground beef, pickles, red onion, secret sauce, then sprinkled with sesame seeds.

Pink Door Pizza

From the people who brought Calgary The Beltliner and Starbelly comes Pink Door Pizza. Go for the classics and stay for the quirky flavours, including, you guessed it –  pickles!

The Nashville North has fried chicken, Pink Door hot sauce, dill pickles, green onion, mozza, cheddar, and buttermilk ranch.

Their Pickle Me Fancy is topped with dill pickles, pickled fennel, onion, fresno chile, fresh dill, garlic butter, cheddar, mozza, and chipotle aioli.

The Mash

The Mash uses upcycled spent grain from the brewing process at Half Hitch Brewing. And, good news – it’s good for you! The spent grains actually are high in fibre, protein and phenolic compounds.

The Dill Pickle & Bacon Pizza has a garlic butter base topped with pickles and crispy bacon bits. Then, they top it (more) with mozzarella, aged white cheddar cheese and even more pickles. Finished with a honey drizzle!

You’ll also find pickles on their Spicy Cheeseburger pizza that has: Thousand Island base with crumbled beef, diced jalapeños, bacon bits, red onion, mustard, hot sauce, and tangy dill pickles. Then, topped with Mozzarella cheese.

Red Top Pizza

Red Top is where Calgary goes for Detroit-style pizzas. These will be thick and in a square/rectangle shape with toppings often going right to the ends of the slices.

Their Corktown Groove Pizza is topped with garlic butter, bacon, Feta, spinach, a hot honey drizzle, and of course, pickles!
